Our main ensemble is The Atlantic Trio, a Dutch-based chamber music ensemble consisting of
Bas Verheijden (piano), Vegard Nilsen (violin) and Anfried Plat (cello).
Event organisation bureau Music and Business regularly works with several other internationally recognized musicians who are all capable of giving the participants a personal cultural experience on the very highest level. Thanks to our vast knowledge of classical music and our huge network in the music world we are able to put together concert programs and combinations of musicians that respond to your expectations of a perfectly balanced and smooth arrangement.
The three musicians of The Atlantic Trio have all been notably recognized in the world of chamber music. After numerous concerts in The Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Curacao and Aruba The Atlantic
Trio has established itself as an internationally recognized ensemble. The Atlantic Trio is unique in
the sense that it does not only perform as a piano trio, but also as well as three different duos
as well as performing as soloists.
During the season 2006-2007 the trio organized a series of concerts in Amsterdam together with
the world famous Orlando Quartet (later Parkanyi Quartet).
In the international press The Atlantic Trio has gained a lot of glorious reviews: 'Great musicians',
'Unbelievebly beautiful', 'Grandiose Klangwogen von höchster Intensität'.
The repertoire of The Atlantic Trio ranges from Mozart to Loevendie, and also contains other
instruments for special purposes.
Pianist Bas Verheijden studied with Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam
Conservatory where he graduated cum laude. In 1999 he became
the first Dutch pianist ever to be accepted as a student at the
famous Accademia Pianistica incontri col Maestro in Imola (Italy)
where he subsequently studied for two years. He has won the
Steinway Competition, the Princess Christina Competition, the
International Music Competition of Scheveningen 1997. In Amster
dam he won the prestigious Concertgebouw Prize for Young
Dutch Talents. His real breakthrough came when he performed
Rachmaninov's third piano Concerto on 14 consecutive evenings
under the baton of Maestro Roland Kieft. A live cd was made of
his Concertgebouw performance.
Music and Business is led by the Norwegian violinist Vegard Nilsen
who studied with prof. Arve Tellefsen at the Norwegian State
Academy of Music and with Viktor Liberman and Lex Korff de
Gidts at the Utrecht Conservatory where he graduated cum
laude. During his student years he attended masterclasses with
Hristo Donkin, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Franco Gulli, Gyorgy Pauk,
Istvan Parkanyi, Herman Krebbers and the Altenberg Trio Wien.
During six years he was leader of the second violins of the
Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, and since 1995 he is a professor
of violin at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Music in Antwerp.
Since 2008 he also teaches at the "Gj?vik Academy of the Arts"
in Norway. Being an accomplished pedagogue he gave master
classes in Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany.
A passionate chamber musician he has built up an international
reputation as a violinist of The Atlantic Trio www.atlantictrio.com.
The cellist Ansfried Plat studied at the conservatory of Groningen
and later with Jean Decroos at the Royal Dutch Conservatory of
The Hague. He is a member of the Netherlands Radio
Philharmonic Orchestra. Ansfried Plat is a very popular chamber
music player whose career has lead him through most European
countries. One of the highlights of his career as a soloist was his
performance of Brahms' double concerto with the San Francisco
Sinfonietta.
